Volunteer Service Hard Work, but Well Worth the Rewards
I arrived home from Denver a week ago and I am now settled in and enjoying spending time with my friends and family. Our final round went well. Our disaster team ended up being shuffled around quite a bit. Being on disaster was stressful and overwhelming at times, but it was an experience that I learned a lot from and I’m glad to have been apart of it. Now that I have had time to reflect on my AmeriCorps NCCC experience, I realize how much I was able to experience and how many awesome memories that were made in those ten months. I miss my team like crazy (Water 5 shout out!!), but I know that we will keep in touch through e-mail and facebook of course. I’m hoping to be able to visit the places I enjoyed like Denver, Minneapolis and New Orleans. AmeriCorps was such a great experience and it’s a ten-month adventure I would recommend to anyone who loves to travel, serve and meet new and interesting people and life-long friends. I will close out my final blog with a quote that I love. If you are unsure what you want to do, no worries! Keep your options open because there is so much out there to do and experience. Do what you love and love what you do.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” (Margaret Mead).
Best of luck!
Sincerely,
Margaret
