During your Gap Year on Eleuthera you will:
- Explore the island of Eleuthera, a beautiful tropical environment
- Achieve Open Water, Advanced and Rescue SCUBA certification
- Participate in hands-on scientific research
- Experience adventure in sea kayaking and camping expeditions
- Develop professional skills in/out of a traditional office
- Learn sustainable farming and animal husbandry skills
- Design an independent project to present to the community
- Discover how to make your home community more sustainable

- Students looking for hands-on involvement with innovative projects that teach people to live more responsibly.
The Gap Year opportunity is for high school graduates or enrolled college students taking a
semester or year off before continuing their academic career.
Gap year students will earn PADI Open Water SCUBA certification
and will have opportunity to acquire Advanced and Rescue diving
certification as well.

The Gap Year Program at the Cape Eleuthera Institute is
an intensive and challenging 8-week program focused on
leadership, ecology, research, and sustainable development. The
Cape Eleuthera Institute’s remote location invites students to
think about our impact on the environment.
Dates and Tuition
September 12 - November 7, 2011 (arrival and departure dates)
Tuition is $6,500 includes dorm accommodation, meals, and
program-related activities. Additional expenses include travel to and from Rock Sound, Eleuthera, extra SCUBA certifications, and spending money.
